The Scarlet Ball
On April 13, Wauneta-Palisade juniors, seniors and their dates celebrated their friendships and their school year at "The Scarlet Ball," this year's prom. The night kicked off with the promenade on main street, and then Amanda Pankonin took pictures. At the Wauneta Legion Hall, attendees feasted on a supper of rib eye steaks, cheesy potatoes, salad, dinner roll and moon cake dessert. A dance DJ'ed by Night Sounds followed, and the night/morning ended with the post prom celebration at the high school gym. Pictures from the night can be viewed by clicking on the picture at right.

Behind the Teacher's Desk
Sunni and Marj, you can see them everyday, but do you really know what they did in high school and college? We sat down and interviewed them and found out some interesting things. Sunni Nordhausen attended Chase County High School and the Lincoln School of Commerce College. Sunni said the biggest difference was having typing class. She enjoyed Biology class as a student. When asked if she was ever in trouble as a high school student, the answer was "Never", however this journalist is skeptical. Sunni's dream job was to become a marine biologist, but nebraska doesn't have many whales. Finally, Sunni's favorite memory as a high school student was going night skiing for a school trip. Now, onto Marj. Marj attended Palisade High School, and The McCook Beauty Academy for college. The biggest difference for her was not having the electronics that we use today. Marj's favorite class as a student was definitely not English, but she did enjoy Biology. Marj also covered up for herself by saying she was always a good kid and never got in trouble. Finally, her favorite memory was the last day of school. Stay tuned for next weeks teacher!

5th and 6th Grade Celebrate with '50's Party
|
Wauneta-Palisade's fifth and sixth graders celebrated 10,000 minutes of reading on Thursday, November 1, with a '50's party.
Students and their teachers, Mrs. Bales and Mrs. Kunkel, danced to music from the '50's, had a bubble-gum blowing contest, hula hooped, limbo-ed, and had popcorn and milkshakes. Great job, fifth and sixth grade, on reaching your reading goal! |

"What do you think of the W-P sports seasons so far?"
"I think they're off to a great start. The boys have adjusted well to the 6-man game. The girls showed how much they've improved in the Wallace game. They might have lost that match last year."

"Both teams are off to an impressive 2-0 start. Hope we both keeping winning this week. As our opponents give us a tougher challenge, we need to get better, too."
